The National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books has begun introducing the method of hand papermaking intended for the restoration of ancient books and manuscripts. This technique makes it possible to produce paper that closely replicates the composition and structure of the original material and is used to restore missing sheets and fragments.
The hand papermaking process involves recycling paper scraps and unusable materials left after restoration work. In addition, the Center’s specialists conducted an experiment using pulp imported from abroad.
