From October 14 to 17, 2025, an international scientific and practical seminar titled “Faces of Memory: Advanced Technologies for the Preservation and Restoration of Manuscript and Printed Heritage” was held at the Matenadaran, the Museum-Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.

During the seminar, specialists in document restoration and conservation from various countries exchanged experience, presented their reports, and familiarized themselves with Matenadaran’s achievements in this field. In addition, master classes were conducted by leading global experts in bookbinding, document restoration, and handmade paper production.
The National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books was represented by the Head of the “Restoration and Conservation” Department, Z.A. Beisenkulov, who delivered a presentation titled “Restoration of the Book ‘Kitab Mishkat al-Masabih’.”
In his presentation, he provided a detailed account of the restoration work carried out on the book, including disinsection, disinfection, washing of the folios, preparation of the adhesive, restoration of damaged pages using Japanese paper, forming and stitching the book block, as well as creating a new binding made of genuine leather.
