As part of the Nauryznama decade, dedicated to Renewal Day, restoration specialists from the National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books conducted a master class titled “Reviving the Old.” The participants were students of Astana International University, who, under the guidance of professional restorers, became acquainted with the main stages of restoration and preservation of rare books and manuscripts.
During the practical session, methods of cleaning, restoring damaged pages, rebinding, and conserving a sacred copy of the Qur’an written in 1890 were demonstrated. Special attention was given to preserving the book’s original condition and strengthening its physical structure.
This event highlighted the importance of preserving spiritual heritage and the continuity of cultural values, while also fostering a respectful attitude toward historical memory.
